ABOUT
RWA was built to bring genuine Hollywood agency and management experience into the Australian market - not as aspiration, but as practice.
After building his career at the legendary William Morris Agency and later managing actors at ROAR in Los Angeles, Rob established RWA with a simple goal: to combine strategic career management with high-level representation under one roof.
At RWA, actors are represented and managed by a senior talent executive with a long-term career strategy. Usually, those are two separate relationships. Rob brings both perspectives to every client he represents.
With nearly three decades of experience across the United States and Australia, he understands how to pursue immediate opportunities without losing sight of the bigger picture.
ROB WOODBURN
Long before entering the entertainment industry, Rob developed the judgement, discipline and leadership that would later define his approach to representation.
Before beginning his professional career, he competed as an NCAA and semi-professional baseball player, where he learned that talent may create an opportunity, but preparation determines what happens next.
Over a ten-year period before and after serving in the United States Navy, Rob also worked as a beach lifeguard. Extensive training and hundreds of rescues reinforced the importance of situational awareness, calm judgement and decisive action under pressure.
He later served aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), where he was hand-selected from a crew of more than 5,000 sailors to serve as the Commanding Officer's personal guard and driver while holding a Secret security clearance. The position demanded trust, discipline, discretion and accountability - qualities that continue to influence the way he works today.
HOLLYWOOD EXPERIENCE
Rob's entertainment career began at the legendary William Morris Agency in Los Angeles before moving into talent management at ROAR, where he represented lead actors working across major studio films and network television, including The Last Samurai, Fantastic Four, How I Met Your Mother, Sex and the City and Nip/Tuck.
Working alongside studio & network executives, producers, casting directors and actors gave Rob a firsthand understanding of how enduring careers are built.
Talent may open doors. Preparation, positioning, relationships, reputation and thoughtful decision-making determine how long those doors remain open.
After ROAR, Rob launched the Jet Set Agency within Jet Set Models in San Diego, overseeing representation across film, television, brand endorsements and the transition of models and professional athletes into mainstream entertainment.
While at Jet Set, Rob was recruited by the Chief Executive Officer of AEG, then Australia's largest talent agency by client roster and employee numbers - and one of the few publicly listed talent agencies in the world - to relocate to Sydey and lead the company's Film & Television Talent Division.
BUILDING RWA
When Rob established Rob Woodburn Agency in Sydney in 2009, his vision wasn't to recreate another traditional talent agency.
He wanted to bring together the strategic thinking of Hollywood management with the advocacy, negotiation and opportunity of agency representation.
That philosophy continues to shape RWA today.
Rather than measuring success by individual bookings, Rob has always believed the true measure of representation is the long-term career that follows.
BEYOND ENTERTAINMENT
Rob holds a Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a Diploma in Leadership from the University of Illinois Chicago.
He has served on advisory boards for Westpac Banking Corporation, the Sydney Blue Sox (ABL) and NSW Origin Legends Management (NRL).
Born in New York and raised in California's San Francisco Bay Area, Rob now lives and works from Sydney's Northern Beaches.
TODAY
Nearly three decades after entering the entertainment industry, Rob remains guided by a belief that has shaped every stage of his career: people are capable of far more than they often realise when someone believes in them, challenges them and expects more of them.
